Irvine, California, is a planned city located in Orange County. In 2008, Irvine was deemed by CNNMoney.com to be the fourth best place in the US to live, while in 2011, Businessweek gave Irvine the distinction of being the fifth best city in the nation. Irvine was developed in the 1960s by the Irvine Company and formally incorporated in 1971. Most of the city lies in a broad flat valley, although there are some hills, plateaus and canyons to the north and south.
